05/07/10 Visit of the Canadian Prime Minister in Croatia
On the occasion of the visit of the Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Stephen Harper, in Croatia, Animal Friends has sent letters with the following content to Ms. Jadranka Kosor and Mr. Ivo Josipovic:
Maj 7, 2010
Dear Mr. Josipovic/Dear Ms. Kosor
We are addressing you due to the occasion of the visit of the Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Stephen Harper, to his official visit to Zagreb, Croatia, and would like to take the opportunity to ask you to use your influence and reputation and appeal to Prime Minister Harper to do everything in his power in order to stop the seal slaughter in Canada.
We believe that you know Croatia was among the first countries in the world that, on March 28, 2006, with Mexico, the U.S., Belgium, Netherlands and Slovenia banned the import of fur and other products derived from seals. The number of countries that have joined them greatly increased since the entire European Union recently introduced such a ban.
By taking this very important step, Croatia showed that it can be a leader among the countries in the world when it comes to the protection and ethical treatment of animals, and your commitment to the fate of seals in Canada could be of crucial importance for the survival of the species.
Thank you for your support and kind regards.
