07/06/15 Hugo Boss Has Pledged to Go Fur Free!
International project, also represented in Croatia, achieves new success
- Another victory for animals exploited for their fur
The international coalition Fur Free Alliance, whose member is also Animal Friends Croatia, commends the luxury fashion brand Hugo Boss for the cessation of using the animal fur.
This praiseworthy decision was recently announced in the report for the viability of the company. Hugo Boss will be dropping all fur, including rabbit fur, starting with its upcoming Fall/Winter collection for the year 2016.
Joh Vinding, the chairman of the Fur Free Alliance organization, stated: "HUGO BOSS has become a leader in the fashion world by taking a stand against animal cruelty and ending the use of fur in collections. The Fur Free Alliance hopes other luxury brands will follow HUGO BOSS's lead, especially since there are now so many cruelty-free alternatives that are fashionable and indistinguishable from the real thing."
Bernd Keller, the creative and brand-director for sportswear in Hugo Boss, stated: "From our Fall/Winter 2016 Collection onward, we will no longer be using raccoon dog or rabbits. This means we will not be using any farmed fur in any of our HUGO BOSS clothing collections and are sending out a clear signal. Today, we are also successfully supplying "friendly fur" and "friendly leather" products. We want to use these products to inspire the present generation and especially the next generation with a new kind of luxury."
Hugo Boss joined the growing number of brands and stores that do not use fur, such as Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Zara and ASOS.
In Croatia, some of the fashion brands and stores that are not selling fur are the following: Image Haddad, Modna Kuca MAK, Budoir, Hippy Garden, I-GLE, Martina Felja and H&M, Marc O'Polo, Gerry Weber. The project ''Shops Without Fur'', which is the part of the campaign "For Croatia without Fur", is presented with the assistance of models Petra Friganovic and fashion designer Durdica Vorkapic.

Fur Free Alliance (FFA) is an international coalition of animal protection organizations, working towards the elimination of exploitation and killing of animals for their fur. It associates more than 40 organizations in 28 countries and millions of supporters around the world.
In Croatia, more than 70 percent of people are opposing the killing of animals for fur and stand firmly with the existing ban on breeding animals for fur production purposes. Animal Friends believe that this success is another reason for Croatia to go ahead with its laws related to the protection of animals.
Using charming visuals, Animal Friends are inviting the citizens to thank Hugo Boss for the decision, which is directly rescuing the animals and simultaneously spreading a message of environmental awareness and compassion.
