10/08/08 Tamara Ecclestone Against Fur
PETA, Animal Friends, and Cro A Porter announce the new provocative campaign
- TV presenter, Formula One heiress and the daughter of Formula One mogul Bernie Ecclestone and Croatian model Slavica Ecclestone wants the public to know about the grotesque cruelty behind the "fashion"
Formula One heiress Tamara Ecclestone has worn many hats – TV presenter, lifestyle reporter and owner of a TV production company, just to name a few. But in her latest role, she wears nothing but a strategically placed chequered flag in order to send the heartfelt message "Going Fur-Free Is the Winning Formula." The sexy new ad, shot by celebrity photographer Karl Grant, was launched for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Europe and Animal Friends Croatia.
"I enjoy going to fashion shows and I enjoy seeing what's new and fantastic," says Tamara, who was named by Forbes as one of the "Hottest Billionaire Heiresses." "But I just don't understand how fur is necessarily fashionable."
Besides having formed her own TV production company, Tamara also reports for SKY Italia on the luxury lifestyle and party scene behind Formula One racing. She becomes the latest celebrity to boldly shed her clothes for PETA's anti-fur ads.
For every piece of fur, animals in the wild are trapped, drowned or beaten to death. On fur farms, they are gassed to death, their necks are broken, or they are anally or vaginally electrocuted. Sometimes animals are even skinned alive.
"I just think it's terrible to harm living animals all in the name of vanity," says Tamara in an exclusive online interview with PETA. "I think it's completely unnecessary, and I think that once you've seen the ways in which lots of these animals are killed – and how grotesque and unnecessary it is – I think that people would automatically choose not to wear fur."
Croatian promotion of PETA's campaign with Tamara Ecclestone took place on Cro A Porter on Wednesday, October 8 at 7:30 P.M. in the Pavillion 2 of the Zagreb Fair.
Billboards with attractive Tamara Ecclestone will be put up in Croatia by Animal Friends in Zagreb and Varazdin, and they can be seen at the web portal www.prijatelji-zivotnja.hr.
This action was supported by Cro A Porter, Europlakat, Arto, and Vectordesign.
